Partial balance of the dictatorial repression in Honduras: Dozens of people wounded and censored freedom of speech

Comunicas.- About 42 wounded people was the result of a new attack from the military and police of Honduras in San Pedro Sula against a peaceful demonstration carried out on Monday to support the legitimate President, Jose Manuel Zelaya Rosales, denounced the people affected, while the authorities of the regime deny it.rnrn“There was a demonstration at the first avenue of San Pedro Sula, then the police came abruptly and began beating people,” said the MP for Unificacion Democratica and coordinator of the National Front for Resistance Against the Coup, Marvin Ponce.rnrnAccording to the people that were present at the repression journey, the regime forces also arrested 19 people that were part of the peaceful protest.rnrnOn the other hand, the spokesman of the National Police, Orlin Cerrato, denied the violence in that place; however he assured that “there are 42 wounded people, one of them with a shot and the rest with contusions produced by the police. There are also 19 people arrested.”rnrnPonce said that the police launched tear gas from helicopters against Zelaya's followers at the protest, where “there were about three thousand people.”rnrnThe demonstrations to demand the restitution of the legitimate and ousted President of Honduras have taken place continuously since June 28, when the military forces carried out a coup d'état. So far, the military repression have killed four people, the last one, a teacher that was shot in the head past Thursday.rn

Facto Government closed Radio Globo

rnThe National Commission of Telecommunications of the de facto Government of Honduras closed the frequency of the radio station Radio Globo, giving no explanations for such action, denounced on Tuesday the General Manager of the station, Alejandro Villatoro.rnrnRadio Globo is an information station with a critic point of view towards the coup d'état and the human rights violations carried out by the illegitimate Government of Roberto Micheletti. rnrnThe Manager of Radio Globo presented his denounce to the Committee of Relatives of the Arrested and Missing People in Honduras (Cofadeh, Spanish acronym).rnrnAfter the coup d'état carried out on June 28, about 95 % of the Honduran media stopped broadcasting any information related to the expulsion by force of the legitimate President Manuel Zelaya. rnrnNevertheless, Radio Globo has been informing objectively about all the events happened after the break on the constitutional order of the Central American country.rnrnThis media outlet has been victim of serious aggressions, such as the incursion of the Honduran army into their headquarter in Tegucigalpa, Honduras' capital city.rnrnSince the coup, the facilities of Radio Globo were militarized, their signal was forced off air and its director, in joint with the journalists and technicians, have been victims of threats and harassing.rnrnRadio Globo has widely spread the multiple violations to the human rights carried out by the repressive forces of the de facto Government during the 35 days of people's resistance demonstrations.rnrnrnrnrnABNrnrnPhoto: archivern
